Volt Might Cost As Much As $60,000
We understand that they need to make money as well, but a $20,000 markup on a car that is suppose to change the way we think about electric cars sounds a bit much.
This is just one dealer and we’re not sure if others will follow suit, but we would put our money on it. Auto-Observer spoke with General Motors about the situation and they said, "We also aren’t expecting our dealers to overcharge anyone for this vehicle, either, and will monitor the situation closely when we launch," adding, "we’ll be paying close attention when the vehicle launches and do our best to strongly discourage this kind of behavior, as we always do with any GM-branded vehicle."
With the lease special that GM is offering, we aren’t sure why anybody would want to purchase the car outright. We can only hope that dealers allow for leases to take place.
